Our Kapsia cave and Nafplion day tour starts by driving out of the city along the scenic coastal road towards west.
Our first stop is the impressive Corinth Canal where you can take pictures and enjoy the breathtaking view by walking on the bridge of the Canal. Next we will head towards Tripoli and specifically to the village of Kapsia. You will visit Kapsia cave that is considered one of the most important caves in Greece. Human bones and pottery daily utensils have been found in it. It was explored for the first time by French archaeologist Gustave Fougères, in1887. The official announcement about this cave was made in 1911 when light lamps, tools and bone fragments were found. Inside the cave, one can see the hall of “wonders”, which stands out for its amazing colors: red, blue and yellow which make up a work of art, made up by nature itself.
After your visit there we will head to Nafplion. After one hour driving we will arrive in Nafplion, the first Capital of Greece after the Greek Revolution in 1821. You will admire historical buildings, explore the beautiful small alleys of the town and enjoy your walk in the seaside area of the town. You will enjoy your meal in a local traditional tavern and then we will drive you to the fortress of Palamidi which was built by the Venetians and its located above the town.
You will enter the fortress and you will be amazed by the panoramic view of the town. The tour ends by driving you back to Athens.
